4th Year Apprentice Electrician Job in Melbourne

Electrical Powerhaus is seeking a capable fourth-year electrical apprentice to join our growing service and maintenance team.

Based in Box Hill and working across Melbourne Metro, you will assist with residential and commercial fault finding, repairs, installations, upgrades and urgent electrical work under the level of supervision required for each task.

About the role

You will work alongside and under the effective supervision of appropriately licensed electricians on scheduled and reactive jobs across Melbourne.

You will help investigate faults, complete installation and maintenance tasks, document the work accurately and communicate professionally with customers. The level and proximity of supervision will reflect the work, its risks and your demonstrated competence.

No two days are exactly the same. One job may involve helping trace an intermittent fault in an older Melbourne home; the next could be a switchboard upgrade, commercial maintenance call, appliance connection or urgent power outage.

What you will be doing

• Assist licensed electricians with residential and commercial electrical service, maintenance, repairs and installations.
• Help diagnose power outages, nuisance tripping, damaged wiring and equipment failures.
• Install and repair switchboards, safety switches, circuit breakers, lighting, power points, smoke alarms, fans, ovens and other fixed electrical equipment under supervision.
• Assist with electrical safety inspections, testing and verification.
• Support supervised urgent and emergency electrical work when rostered.
• Prepare tools and materials and maintain an organised work area.
• Complete accurate site notes, photos, material records and apprenticeship evidence.
• Follow safe-isolation procedures, SWMS, supervisor directions and Victorian electrical requirements.
• Attend required RTO or TAFE training and keep apprenticeship records current.
• Ask for guidance whenever a task or result is outside your competence.
• Represent Electrical Powerhaus professionally and leave every site clean and tidy.

What we are looking for

• Genuine fourth-year status in an electrician’s apprentice contract of training.
• Arrangements that can continue or transfer to Electrical Powerhaus.
• Current enrolment in Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, UEE30820 or an accepted equivalent.
• Satisfactory RTO or TAFE progress and workplace competency records.
• Practical experience from the earlier stages of your apprenticeship.
• Developing fault-finding, testing and problem-solving skills.
• A current Australian driver’s licence.
• A valid White Card.
• Current CPR and low-voltage rescue training.
• Legal right to work in Australia.
• Reliable attendance, safe work habits and a willingness to learn.
• Clear and respectful communication with customers and other trades.

Where you will work

Electrical Powerhaus is based at 12 Nelson Road, Box Hill VIC 3128. The role involves mobile electrical work across Melbourne Metro and surrounding service areas.

This is an on-site trade position. Applicants should be comfortable travelling between customer sites and working in occupied homes, businesses, strata properties and other active environments.

Do I need an A-Grade licence?

No. This vacancy is for a current fourth-year electrical apprentice, not a qualified A-Grade electrician.

Will I work unsupervised?

No. Electrical installation work will be completed under effective supervision. Being in fourth year does not remove the supervision requirement.
