Electricians for Princes Hill
Princes Hill is a small, quiet pocket of about 2,000 people on the northern edge of Carlton, named in honour of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s consort. It grew rapidly in the 1880s. In 1884 local Anglicans decided the neighbourhood was populous enough to support its own church, and a temporary St Michael’s opened in 1885. In 1889 the Minister of Public Instruction opened a commodious new state school in Arnold Street for about 250 pupils, today’s Princes Hill Primary.
The Inner Circle railway once ran through the suburb, with a station called Carlton North actually located in Princes Hill. Passenger services ended in 1948, and the old line is now a linear park. Princes Park sits on the western side. Princes Hill is part of the City of Yarra, and we are about fifteen kilometres away in Box Hill.
Homes from the 1880s boom
Princes Hill’s streets are lined with Victorian and Edwardian terraces and cottages from its boom years, most carefully maintained and many heritage protected. Their electrical systems usually include circuits from several eras.
Many of these homes have been in the same families for decades, while others have been renovated by new owners who fell for the suburb’s quiet streets and park views. Either way, the electrical systems usually need a thorough check before any major renovation.

Near Princes Park
Princes Park, with its sports grounds and walking paths, is one of the reasons people love living here. Homes backing onto the park and the Inner Circle linear park often have small gardens and courtyards that benefit from good lighting.
We install garden, path and security lighting using outdoor rated fittings on RCD protected circuits, positioned to avoid spilling into neighbouring homes.
Princes Park is also a sporting hub, with the stadium used for AFL and community football, and match days bring crowds to the surrounding streets. We plan work around busy days so residents are not inconvenienced.
A community of families
Princes Hill Primary and Princes Hill Secondary College anchor a close community of families, many of whom work from home or have children studying. We add power, lighting and data for home offices and study areas, neatly and without damaging heritage features.
Many families are also moving off gas. We plan circuits for induction cooking, heat pump hot water and reverse cycle heating and check the switchboard and supply can handle them.
Being so close to the University of Melbourne and the city, some Princes Hill homes are also let to academics and students. We complete two-yearly rental safety checks and fix faults quickly between tenancies.
Local shops and services
Princes Hill residents use the shops on Lygon Street and Rathdowne Street nearby. We provide fit-outs, lighting, refrigeration and repair work for businesses across the inner north, scheduled around trading hours.
For emergencies, our 24/7 electricians are only a call away.
