Local electricians for Warranwood
Warranwood’s name is a blend of its two neighbours, Warrandyte South and Ringwood North. In 1946 the South Warrandyte Progress Association asked for suggestions for a name, since the area had none, and had at times been called Croydon Heights. Mrs J. Harrison of Brysons Road suggested Warranwood, and the postal authorities and the Shire of Lillydale accepted it.
Today Warranwood is a leafy suburb of about 4,800 people in the City of Maroondah. The Melbourne Rudolf Steiner School is on Wonga Road, and Warranwood Primary moved to Wellington Park Drive in 1996 after starting life as Warrandyte South Primary. From our workshop in Box Hill it is roughly twelve kilometres.
Bushy blocks and family homes
Warranwood’s homes are mostly family houses from the 1970s to the 1990s, set among tall trees on generous blocks, with some newer homes and townhouses. Many families moved here for the space and the bush, and the electrical work we do reflects that setting.
Many Warranwood homes were built by owners who wanted to keep as many trees as possible, so houses often sit close to big gums with overhead lines running through the canopy. We pay particular attention to the service connection and point of attachment on these homes, because they are the first things to suffer in a storm.
- 24/7 storm damage repairs
- Generator inlets and changeover switches
- Overhead to underground supply conversions
- Switchboard upgrades
- Garden and security lighting suited to bushland
- Submains to sheds, studios and workshops
Many Warranwood homes also have split levels or sloping driveways. Good path and step lighting is a simple way to make them safer at night.
Storms and outages
Tall trees and overhead lines mean Warranwood sees more storm related outages than most suburbs. When branches come down on service lines or wind damages the point of attachment, we repair everything on your side of the meter once the network side is made safe.
For homes that lose power regularly, a generator inlet and changeover switch lets you safely run the fridge, lights and other essentials from a portable generator. We can also talk through battery backup, which switches over automatically when the grid goes down.
Families and schools
With the Steiner school, Warranwood Primary and several other schools nearby, Warranwood is a family suburb. We help families with study areas, extra power and data points, air conditioning in hot bedrooms and interconnected smoke alarms on every level.
We also carry out lighting, power and safety work for schools, kindergartens and community groups, scheduled around their timetables.
Solar and electric living
Plenty of Warranwood households want to reduce their bills and their reliance on the grid. Solar, batteries and EV charging all make sense here where roofs are not too shaded. We assess your supply and switchboard and plan the upgrades in a sensible order.
For existing solar systems, we inspect the inverter and wiring and make sure you are getting the output you paid for.
