Electricians for Carrum
Carrum is built on what was once the Carrum Carrum Swamp. The Patterson Cut was dug in 1876 and the swamp was drained in 1879 to stop Eumemmering Creek flooding the surrounding land. The Ramsar-listed Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands are the last remnants of that swamp.
The railway station opened in 1882, the first between Mordialloc and Frankston, and the post office followed in 1886. Carrum had a proud horse racing tradition, with stables in Valetta Street and Tennyson Street, and its waterfront clubs go back a long way: the Carrum Surf Life Saving Club in 1925, the Patterson River Motor Boat Club in 1946 and the Carrum Sailing Club in 1966. About 4,200 people live here.
Homes on low-lying land
Because much of Carrum sits on former swamp, drainage and damp are part of local life. Water in the wrong place is the enemy of electrical systems, so we pay close attention to meter boxes, outdoor outlets and underground cables here.
- Inspection after storms or flooding
- Raising or resealing meter boxes and outdoor outlets
- Switchboard upgrades with safety switches
- Underground cable fault finding
- Coastal rated outdoor fittings
- Sump and pump circuits
If your property has been affected by water, do not switch the power back on until it has been checked. We test the installation and certify it safe before reconnection.
Boats, clubs and the river
The Patterson River and the beach make Carrum a boating town. Boat sheds, marina facilities and club rooms need weatherproof power, lighting and charging points that are safe in wet and salty conditions. We install and maintain these installations properly.
Homes old and new
Carrum’s housing ranges from old beach cottages to new townhouses near the station. We rewire older homes, fit out new builds and add solar, batteries and EV chargers as families move to all electric homes.
The Patterson River mouth
Carrum sits where the Patterson River meets the bay, with its boat ramps, river walks and one of the busiest boating areas on Port Phillip. On summer weekends the river and the beach are full of boats, paddleboards and swimmers.
Homes close to the river mouth deal with salt, wind and damp all at once. We use marine grade fittings and make sure every outdoor circuit is properly protected.
Upgrades for older Carrum homes
Many Carrum homes are older beach houses or post-war family homes that have been added to over the years. We often find extended circuits, missing safety switches and outdated switchboards. We test the whole installation, explain the results in plain language and give you a fixed price to bring it up to a safe standard.
All electric homes near the bay
More Carrum families are moving away from gas, installing heat pump hot water, reverse cycle air conditioning, induction cooking and rooftop solar. We plan these upgrades as one job, checking the supply and switchboard capacity first so everything works together.
Emergencies on the bay
Our 24/7 emergency service covers Carrum for outages, storm damage and water-related faults.
We also check that outdoor lights and garden circuits near the water are properly sealed and protected.
