Electricians for Beaumaris
Beaumaris sits on a blunt point of land pushing into Port Phillip Bay, with Table Rock Point at its tip and dramatic cliffs formed by the folded rock layers known as the Beaumaris Monocline. Behind Keefer’s fishermen’s wharf, the lower cliffs are a fossil site of international significance, where shells, sharks’ teeth, whale bones and bird remains have been found. Ricketts Point and its marine sanctuary are local treasures.
Beaumaris is home to about 13,900 people in the City of Bayside, between the Royal Melbourne Golf Club, Charman Road and the bay. It is also famous for mid-century modern architecture, with many architect designed homes from the 1950s and 1960s among the tea trees. We work across Bayside regularly, and Beaumaris is one of our favourite places to work in summer.
Mid-century modern homes
Beaumaris has one of Australia’s best collections of mid-century modern homes, with flat or low pitched roofs, exposed timber beams, walls of glass and open plans that flow into the garden. These homes are beautiful but challenging to rewire. There is little roof space, few wall cavities and finishes that are hard to repair.
- Careful rewiring of mid-century homes
- Switchboard upgrades and discreet relocation
- Period appropriate and restored light fittings
- Concealed and feature lighting
- Circuits for sympathetic renovations and extensions
- Interconnected smoke alarms
We plan cable routes around exposed beams and glass walls, use existing cavities and discreet surface runs where needed, and choose fittings that suit the design rather than fight it.
Clifftops, tea trees and salt air
Homes near the clifftops and along Beach Road have bay views and sea breezes, and the salt air that comes with them. Outdoor fittings, meter boxes and balcony lights corrode faster here, and failing outdoor equipment often causes safety switches to trip in wet weather.
We install corrosion resistant, properly rated outdoor fittings, replace corroded equipment and design garden lighting that suits the tea tree landscape without glaring into neighbours’ homes.
Rebuilds and new homes
Many older Beaumaris homes have been replaced by contemporary residences, often with pools, outdoor kitchens, smart home systems and EV charging. We work with owners, architects and builders from the design stage through to certification.
New homes are usually all electric, and we size the switchboard and supply for induction cooking, heat pump hot water, reverse cycle heating, solar, batteries and car charging.
Energy upgrades for Beaumaris homes
Many Beaumaris owners are replacing gas heating and hot water with heat pumps, adding solar to flat and skillion roofs and installing EV chargers in carports. Mid-century houses were built for a fraction of today’s electrical load, so these upgrades usually start with the switchboard and the supply to the house.
We check the incoming supply, size the switchboard for what you plan to add over the next ten years and run new circuits without cutting into original timber panelling or exposed brick where we can avoid it. You get one plan covering solar, battery, charger and heating, rather than a series of separate jobs that each patch the last.
The Concourse and local clubs
The Beaumaris Concourse shops, the Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron, the lifesaving club and the local sports clubs are at the centre of community life. We provide lighting, kitchen and refrigeration circuits, fit-outs and repairs for businesses and clubs, scheduled around their hours.
For emergencies, including storm damage, our 24/7 line is always open.
Your Beaumaris electrical questions answered
Can you rewire a mid-century modern home without spoiling it?
Yes. We plan routes around exposed beams and glass, use existing cavities and discreet runs, and choose fittings that suit the design.
Why is Beaumaris famous for fossils?
The cliffs behind Keefer’s wharf contain an internationally significant fossil bed, with remains of sharks, whales, birds and shellfish.
Do you work on new builds in Beaumaris?
Yes. We handle the full electrical scope for new homes, including solar, batteries and EV charging.
Can my mid-century home handle solar and an EV charger?
Usually yes, once the switchboard and main supply are checked and upgraded where needed. We plan it as one job.
